Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Saturday threw down a challenge to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for an open debate on farmer welfare, offering 72 hours of preparation time and complete freedom to fix the venue. Speaking at Telangana Bhavan, KTR said the discussion could happen in the Assembly, Revanth’s native Kondareddy Palli, or even in KCR’s village Chintamadaka, leaving date and place entirely to the Chief Minister’s choice.
Taking repeated digs, KTR called Revanth unfit to lead Telangana and mocked his grasp of policy, quipping that “a person who doesn’t know the difference between a basin and basic” was holding the top post.
He argued that the BRS leadership, without KCR’s personal intervention, was capable of countering Revanth’s allegations. KTR alleged the Congress government had handed over Telangana’s water to Andhra Pradesh, its treasury to Delhi, and jobs to the Chief Minister’s associates.
He insisted no government had supported farmers as much as the BRS under KCR, and accused Revanth of resorting to showy politics instead of administration. Calling the Congress-backed Rythu Bharosa a pre-poll gimmick, KTR claimed farmers were already aware of the contrast between the two regimes.
He also slammed the Congress government’s handling of fertiliser supply, citing farmer distress in Komaram Bheem district where urea shortages had disrupted cultivation. “A government that can’t even supply fertiliser wants to debate with KCR? You’re not even eligible,” he remarked.
