Hyderabad: A midnight fire gutted stock worth around ₹6 lakh at a hardware shop in Kalapather late Friday, with no injuries reported.
The blaze started at Bilal Hardware Shop on Kalapather Road shortly after midnight. Locals tried to douse the flames until a fire tender from Chandulalbaradari station reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
Fire officials suspect an electrical short circuit caused the incident. The shop owner, who had closed for the day around 10 p.m., was alerted during the night and rushed back only to find his goods destroyed.
Officials said a full assessment of the cause and total damage was underway.
