Hyderabad: A man stripped down to his undergarments and staged a protest at the Abdullapurmet Tehsildar office on Friday, accusing revenue authorities of ignoring a court-backed land claim for years. Seated at the office gate, he demanded officials enforce his rights over six acres he claimed were legally his.
Identified as Shankar Reddy from Champapet, the protestor said he took the land on a 99-year lease in 2000 in Survey Numbers 109 and 110 of Tattannaram village. In 2002, he entered a sale agreement with the pattadars, triggering litigation that ended with a 2016 court order allowing him to register the land after paying the necessary fees.
Reddy alleged that even after formal registration, revenue officials refused to update land records or issue required documents, leaving him without title possession. Claiming repeated visits had failed to resolve the matter, he resorted to the half-naked protest to draw attention.
Police later detained Reddy from the premises.
