Srikakulam: Festivities turned tragic in Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam district, where three people lost their lives after being electrocuted during a village temple celebration.
The incident occurred on Sunday night in Talatampara village under Kanchili mandal. According to local sources, a decorative wire snapped and fell during the festivities, instantly electrocuting three individuals. Two others, who also suffered electric shocks, were rushed to hospital. One of them is said to be in critical condition.
The mishap has cast a shadow over what was meant to be a joyous occasion celebrating the village deity. The victims were reportedly participating in the decorations when the accident occurred.
State Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu expressed deep shock over the tragedy. In a statement, he termed the loss of lives during a religious festival “deeply distressing” and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
He also instructed the medical team at Kanchili hospital to ensure the best possible treatment for the injured. Authorities are yet to release the identities of the deceased, and an investigation is underway to determine how the wire came loose.
