HYDERABAD, February 12: The Telangana government will conduct a resurvey of families that were unable to participate in the recent caste census, starting from 16 February, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka announced on Monday. He stated that approximately 3% of households were left out and assured that the resurvey would ensure complete data collection.
Vikramarka emphasised that the caste census was conducted meticulously and scientifically to address disparities and ensure educational, political, and social reservations for backward and marginalised communities. He criticised Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders, including former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), K. T. Rama Rao (KTR), and T. Harish Rao, for not participating in the survey while simultaneously demanding a resurvey.
“We call upon KCR and KTR to join the people of Telangana and participate in the survey at least now,” Vikramarka urged.
He further stated that the government would present the survey details in the state assembly and move forward with a proposal to provide 42% reservations for backward communities.
