Hyderabad: French aerospace company Safran will establish a new maintenance facility in Hyderabad focused on Rafale fighter jet engines, adding to its existing manufacturing footprint in the city.
The announcement was made during a meeting between Safran General Manager Pierre Fernandez and Telangana Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu. Fernandez has confirmed the creation of Safran Aircraft Engine Services India, a new unit dedicated to the overhaul of M88 engines used in Rafale aircrafts, which can create 150 jobs by the end of 2026, with plans to expand staffing to 900 in later phases.
Safran already operates two manufacturing units in Hyderabad. The latest move will position the city as a key base for Rafale engine servicing and component exports.
According to Fernandez, the expansion reflects Safran’s long-term commitment to India’s aerospace and defence manufacturing sector.
