HYDERABAD: A sudden dust storm caused chaos at Valmeeki Ramalayam in Palakurthi mandal, Jangaon district, on Sunday, disrupting Sri Rama Navami celebrations. The powerful winds led to the collapse of tents erected for the festive occasion, injuring three devotees. All three sustained head injuries and were immediately rushed to a hospital in Palakurthi for treatment.
The incident occurred as preparations were underway for mass offerings and meals for devotees. Due to the force of the wind, not only were the tents damaged, but the food arrangements made for the religious event were also spoiled. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with people running for cover and volunteers attempting to assist the injured.
Local authorities are assessing the extent of the damage. Devotees and residents have called for better safety planning for large gatherings during seasonal weather changes, especially for religious festivals.
