Hyderabad: No more plastic, and stop feeding the birds. That was the message from Telangana’s top forest official during a surprise visit to KBR Park on Sunday.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Dr. Suvarna walked the park grounds with members of the Walkers Association, checking up on facilities and chatting with regulars. She didn’t mince words—plastic covers and disposables are now officially out. Signboards will be put up soon to remind visitors.

She also urged people to stop feeding peacocks and pigeons, pointing out that outside food can disrupt their natural habits.

Walkers told her they’ve noticed better upkeep lately, especially cleaner paths, working toilets, and drinking water taps. But they flagged monsoon troubles—slippery stretches and no shelter. Dr. Suvarna acknowledged the concern but said any new construction in a national park has to follow rules.

Stray dogs were another concern. She assured that the forest department would work with GHMC to address it and reminded everyone that keeping the park clean is a shared responsibility.

Other forest officials and association members joined her on the walk.
