Hyderabad: Two individuals were arrested in Hyderabad for illegally selling Mepentermine Sulphate injections—normally administered during surgeries—for non-medical use at inflated prices. The arrests were made by the South Zone Task Force in coordination with the Moghalpura and Chandrayangutta police.
Police seized 110 vials of the restricted drug, valued at ₹1.32 lakh, from the accused. The arrested individuals were identified as Mohammad Jibran Ahmed alias Sameer Goli (30) from Moghalpura and Ahmad Qureshi (30) from Balapur.
According to Task Force Additional DCP Ande Srinivas Rao, Jibran, a gym-goer, initially began using Mepentermine Sulphate injections himself to rapidly build muscle mass. Recognising a growing demand for the substance in the bodybuilding community, he began sourcing it online from New Delhi through platforms like IndiaMART and reselling it at higher prices without a valid prescription.
Similarly, Ahmad Qureshi was also found to be purchasing the drug illegally and selling it in the Barkas area. Both individuals were operating independently, targeting bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts seeking rapid physical transformation.
The drug, legally dispensed only against a doctor’s prescription, was being procured cheaply and sold at inflated rates. Acting on credible intelligence, the South Zone Task Force under the supervision of Additional DCP Srinivas Rao, along with Inspector Raghavendra and local police teams, apprehended the suspects red-handed.
The arrested individuals and the seized contraband were handed over to the Moghalpura and Chandrayangutta police stations for further investigation.
