Hyderabad, January 6: BRS Working President K Tarakarama Rama Rao (KTR) strongly criticised the Congress government in Telangana over its financial management during its first year in power.
In a tweet on Monday, KTR accused the government of accumulating an “unprecedented” debt of Rs 1.5 lakh crore without fulfilling key promises or implementing welfare schemes.
He questioned the Congress leadership on the status of the six guarantees announced during their election campaign. “What have they accomplished? Not a single guarantee has been implemented. No loan waivers, no Rythu Bharosa, no benefits for farmers, yet they have managed to incur Rs 1.5 lakh crore in debt,” KTR stated.
KTR compared the Congress’ one-year record to the BRS government’s decade-long governance under K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). He highlighted that the BRS administration borrowed Rs 4 lakh crore over ten years but utilised the funds for projects such as the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, Mission Bhagiratha, and Mission Kakatiya, as well as welfare initiatives like Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, and Aasara pensions.
Pointing out the Congress’ alleged failures, KTR said, “There is no Rs 2,000 to Rs 4,000 pension hike, no Mahalakshmi scheme benefits of Rs 2,500 for women, and no provision for gold under Kalyana Lakshmi. Where has the Rs 1.5 lakh crore gone?”
He further accused the Congress government of neglecting infrastructure development, saying, “They neither took up new projects nor improved existing ones. Yet, they have created enormous debt in a short span.” KTR urged citizens to hold the government accountable, concluding his statement with, “Jago Telangana, Jago.”
