HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has announced a 24-hour water supply disruption across multiple areas in the city. The interruption will begin at 6 a.m. on Monday, February 17, and continue until 6 a.m. on Tuesday, February 18. This is to facilitate essential maintenance work at the Kondapaka Pumping Station, which is part of the Godavari Drinking Water Supply Phase-1 project.
The maintenance work involves the installation of 900 mm diameter BF and NRV valves on the 3000 mm diameter MS pumping main at the station. Due to this, water supply will be affected in several operational divisions of the HMWSSB.
Areas Affected:
- O&M Division-6: S.R. Nagar, Sanathnagar, Borabanda, SPR Hills, Erragadda, Banjara Hills, Vengal Rao Nagar, Yellareddyguda, Somajiguda, Fatehnagar.
- O&M Division-9: Kukatpally, Bhagyanagar, Vivekananda Nagar, Yellammabanda, Moosapet, Bharat Nagar, Moti Nagar, Gayatri Nagar, Baba Nagar, KPHB, Balaji Nagar, Hasmathpet.
- O&M Division-12: Chintal, Suchitra, Jeedimetla, Shapurnagar, Gajularamaram, Suraram, Adarsh Nagar, Bhagat Singh Nagar, Jagadgirigutta, Ushodaya.
- O&M Division-13: Alwal, Father Balayya Nagar, Venkatapuram, Machabollaram, Defence Colony, Vajpayee Nagar, Yapral, Chanakyapuri, Gautam Nagar, Sainathpuram.
- O&M Division-14: Cherlapally, Saibaba Nagar, Radhika.
- O&M Division-15: Kondapur, Doyens, parts of Madhapur.
- O&M Division-17: Hafeezpet, Miyapur.
- O&M Division-21: Kompally, Gundla Pochampally, Thumkunta, Jawaharnagar, Dammaiguda, Nagaram.
- O&M Division-22: Nizampet, Bachupally, Pragathinagar, Gandi Maisamma, Tellapur, Bollaram.
– Transmission Division-4: MES, Trishul Lines, Gun Rock, Hakimpet Air Force, Secunderabad Cantonment, Bibinagar AIIMS.
– RWS & TAX Areas: Pragnyapur (Gajwel), Aler (Bhuvanagiri), Ghanpur (Medchal/Shamirpet).
Public Advisory
The HMWSSB has advised residents in the affected areas to store sufficient water in advance and use it judiciously during the maintenance period. The board has also requested public cooperation and assured that normal water supply will resume promptly upon completion of the works.
Residents are encouraged to plan accordingly to minimize inconvenience during this temporary disruption.
