Hyderabad: Former Telangana minister Harish Rao has strongly criticised the state government’s plan to hold statewide ‘Rythu Bharosa Vijayotsav’ events, calling it an attempt to mislead voters ahead of upcoming local body elections.
In a post on social media platform X, Rao alleged that the events were being staged to project the Congress government’s Rythu Bharosa scheme as a success, despite neglecting farmers for 19 months.
He said the Congress had promised ₹15,000 per acre in its election manifesto but delivered only ₹12,000, accusing the government of deceiving farmers.
Harish Rao further claimed that farmers had not received payments for both kharif and rabi seasons under the scheme and questioned the timing of the celebrations.
He demanded to know if the government was celebrating the denial of two crop payments, the breach of farmer trust, and the failure to implement loan waivers. He said the ruling party had betrayed the farming community and that the public events were nothing more than an insult to their hardships.
