HYDERABAD: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Telangana, forecasting rain and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty winds, and hailstorms in several districts on March 23, 2025.
This development comes as a relief to residents who have been experiencing scorching temperatures over the past few days.
According to the IMD-Hyderabad forecast, the city is currently experiencing a minimum temperature of 32 degrees Celsius, with expectations of a maximum of 36 degrees Celsius over the next two days. The weather department has indicated that these thunderstorms are likely due to an upper-level trough, leading to moderate to heavy rainfall in the northern and northeastern districts of Telangana on March 22 and 23.
Notably, weather analyst T. Balaji, known as Telangana Weatherman, has warned of strong thunderstorms, gusty winds, and isolated hailstorms across Telangana from March 22 to March 24. He highlighted that as the region moves out of the heatwave, intense thunderstorms and hailstorms are expected in central and northern Telangana on March 22, followed by southern and eastern parts on March 23 and 24. Eastern Telangana may experience severe storms during this period.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions during this period, such as avoiding outdoor activities during thunderstorms, securing loose objects to prevent wind damage, staying indoors during lightning and hailstorms, and following IMD updates and advisories.
