Hyderabad: An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale was recorded in the Andaman Sea early Wednesday, the National Centre for Seismology said.
The tremors were felt at approximately 1:43 am. The epicentre was located at a depth of 20 kilometres beneath the seabed.
The shockwaves disrupted sea conditions. Swells rose sharply following the quake, with some disturbances reported along nearby coastal regions.
There have been no confirmed reports of casualties or property damage as of now.
