HYDERABAD- BRS leader Harish Rao has criticized the Congress for its alleged inaction in temple development during its tenure. Speaking on the issue, he praised former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) for his commitment to temple restoration, highlighting that ₹2,000 crore was spent on temple projects under the BRS government.
Harish Rao emphasized that the development was planned systematically to avoid future challenges. He also mentioned the foundation stone laid for a medical college, stressing the need for medical facilities for temple devotees. Additionally, he pointed out that Kaleshwaram water was diverted to the Koneru area, benefiting the temple surroundings.
He called for the inclusion of MLAs and MLCs in temple boards and urged that Scheduled Tribes (STs) be allocated positions based on their population. He proposed that temple administration be restructured into a trustee committee and that a board be established for the Vemulawada temple.
Accusing the Congress of failing to allocate sufficient funds for temples, Harish Rao questioned why no development had taken place despite the party being in power for 50 years. He revealed that his constituency had donated two kilograms of gold, while KCR personally contributed one kilogram and 100 grams of gold to temples.
He further demanded that temple employees receive salaries on a fixed date and called for the approval of compassionate appointments to support temple staff.
