HYDERABAD, February 9: A Hyderabad-based doctor, even in death, gave a new lease of life to five individuals through organ donation. After being declared brain-dead, the doctor’s family decided to donate vital organs, including the heart, liver, kidneys, and corneas, ensuring they went to patients in urgent need.
The selfless act took place at a city hospital, where medical professionals coordinated with transplant teams to facilitate the donations. The heart and liver were transported to recipients in critical condition, while the kidneys and corneas were allocated through the organ donation registry.
Doctors and medical staff praised the family’s decision, highlighting the importance of organ donation in saving lives. Health officials urged more people to pledge as donors, emphasising that a single donor can impact multiple lives.
The incident has sparked conversations about the significance of organ donation in India, where demand for transplants often exceeds availability. The doctor’s final act of generosity stands as an inspiring example of medical service beyond life.
