Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader Mohammad Azharuddin on Tuesday confirmed that he is among the contenders for the party ticket in the upcoming Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election.
Responding to queries on the matter, Azharuddin stated that it would be inaccurate to say he was not in the race. He clarified, however, that no discussions had yet taken place within the Pradesh Congress Committee either on the conduct of the bypoll or the choice of candidate, saying it was still early for such deliberations.
He warned against premature activity within the party that might create confusion among the cadre. Azharuddin added that the party leadership is aware of the situation and will take the necessary decision at the appropriate time. He said he would abide by whatever the party decides.
