Hyderabad: A young man from Kamareddy district ended his life after battling alcohol addiction and unemployment, leaving his family and community reeling.
According to locals, Anil Kumar, 24, a resident of Sitaipally village in Gandhari mandal, had been jobless for a long time and spent most of his days wandering aimlessly. On Sunday evening, around 7 p.m., his father, Sailu, reportedly scolded him for drinking and urged him to find work.
Already struggling with mental distress, Anil is believed to have consumed an unknown poisonous substance while under the influence of alcohol. His father rushed him to the government hospital in Banswada, from where he was shifted to Nizamabad for further treatment. However, despite doctors’ efforts, he succumbed early on Monday morning at around 6 a.m.
Police have registered a case based on his father’s complaint and are investigating the circumstances that led to the tragedy. The incident has cast a shadow over the community, with neighbours and relatives expressing shock and grief at the young man’s untimely death.
