Hyderabad: A 40-year-old woman died of electrocution while opening a refrigerator at her residence in Rajendranagar on Monday. The incident occurred under the Rajendranagar police station limits, according to SI Kishore.
The deceased, Lavanya, lived in Hyderguda Erraboda and worked as a domestic help to support her family after the death of her husband ten years ago. She had three daughters and had recently conducted her eldest daughter’s wedding.
The daughter, who had returned to her mother’s house after childbirth, was present during the incident. Lavanya reportedly screamed in pain after receiving an electric shock while attempting to open the fridge door. Her daughter tried to intervene but was unable to save her.
With help from neighbours, Lavanya was rushed to a nearby hospital in Hyderguda, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. The sudden death left her daughters in tears, moving residents of the area. Police are investigating the cause of the electrocution.
