HYDERABAD: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rainfall across several parts of Telangana over the next three days, warning of possible thunderstorms and hailstorms in certain areas. The weather shift is expected to bring gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kmph, particularly during hailstorms.
A yellow alert has been issued for the districts of Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mulugu, and Bhupalpally. For Friday, rainfall is likely in Kamareddy, Sangareddy, Medak, Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Suryapet, and Nalgonda.
In Hyderabad, moderate showers brought much-needed relief from the recent sweltering heat. The rain, which fell on Thursday afternoon, followed last week’s heavy showers and significantly cooled the city’s temperatures.
Neighbourhoods such as Miyapur, Madinaguda, Chandanagar, Lingampally, Kondapur, Gachibowli, Madhapur, Kukatpally, Medchal, Dundigal, Gandimaisamma, Bahadurpally, and Gagillapur experienced rain, resulting in traffic congestion and inconvenience for commuters. Several areas also faced temporary power outages, with electricity department personnel dispatched for emergency restoration.
The IMD has advised the public to stay alert and take safety precautions during periods of thunderstorms and strong winds, especially in areas under the yellow alert.
