Hyderabad: Telangana is likely to witness moderate rainfall over the next four days, with Hyderabad and several surrounding districts under orange alert. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) also forecast wind speeds of 40 to 50 km/h across parts of the state.
Light to moderate rain or drizzle is expected in Hyderabad and adjoining areas over the next two days. Late Thursday night and early Friday, several areas of the city and other parts of Telangana saw rainfall, which brought a drop in temperatures and relief from the heat.
According to Telangana State Development Planning Society, the highest recorded rainfall was 58 mm in Langar Houz, followed by 57.3 mm in Rajendranagar. Bahadurpura’s S&T Training Centre recorded 46 mm, while Kishan Bagh Government High School saw 43 mm. Gayatri Nagar in Qutbullapur registered 41.5 mm, Sheikhpet 34.5 mm, and South Hastinapuram in LB Nagar recorded 31.3 mm.
IMD has issued forecasts for scattered rainfall with thunder and winds reaching up to 50–60 km/h in Nirmal, Nizamabad, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahbubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal districts.
Orange alert has been issued for Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad, and Medchal-Malkajgiri.
Districts under yellow alert include Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, and Suryapet.
The southwest monsoon, earlier expected by early June, may reach the Kerala coast about four days ahead of schedule—possibly by the end of this month.
