Medical Bill Reimbursement

Hyderabad: Telangana government on Thursday released ₹180.30 crore towards medical bill reimbursement claims pending for state government employees and pensioners.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the funds would benefit around 26,519 employees and retired staff. The move addresses long-pending dues, including bills left unsettled during the previous BRS administration.

The release comes despite the state’s strained financial position. Vikramarka said the decision was taken in view of the ongoing Bonalu season and to ease the burden on employees and pensioners awaiting reimbursements.

He stated that the Congress government was committed to welfare schemes and that clearing these arrears reflected that resolve. Union leaders representing employees and retirees welcomed the development and termed it a positive step.

They said the payment of pending dues showed seriousness on the part of the government in addressing staff welfare issues.
