HYDERABAD: A fresh wave of Telangana job recruitment is anticipated following approval of the Scheduled Caste (SC) classification bill by Governor Jishnu Dev Varma.
The state government is expected to begin by filling 2,000 gazetted officer posts, followed by a notification for 5,000 teacher positions through the DSC (District Selection Committee). Sources indicate that once the Governor signs the SC classification bill—likely within the next few days—the Revanth Reddy-led government will move swiftly to issue notifications and fill vacancies across departments as outlined in last year’s job calendar.
Job Calendar Back in Motion
The job calendar, released in August last year, detailed the recruitment schedule, including which posts would be filled, when notifications would be issued, and tentative exam timelines. However, the recruitment process was halted midway due to the Supreme Court’s approval of the SC classification, prompting the state to revisit reservation allocations.
The government decided that new notifications would be issued only after finalising reservations for sub-groups within the SC community based on socio-economic conditions. A judicial commission was quickly constituted, and after reviewing its recommendations, the classification process was completed. The bill was passed in the Assembly and sent to the Governor for assent.
Notifications to Begin with Gazetted Posts
The government is now ready to fill 2,000 gazetted posts. Department-wise vacancy identification is reportedly complete, and the General Administration Department (GAD) has been given the go-ahead. Notifications will be issued as soon as the new SC reservation roster points are finalised.
Following this, the government plans to issue the DSC notification to fill around 5,000 teacher posts. Based on current estimates, nearly 5,000 teaching vacancies exist across the state. The Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) has already been conducted, and results were released on February 5.
SC Sub-Group Reservations to Reflect in Notifications
Once the SC classification bill is signed, roster points for the three SC sub-groups will be officially fixed. The judicial commission has already recommended how these points should be distributed among the groups. Future job notifications will specify the number of posts reserved for each SC category, in line with these recommendations.
The GAD has reportedly initiated internal processes to prepare for this, ensuring the upcoming recruitment adheres to the new reservation structure.
