Hyderabad: Telangana is preparing for an expansive and jubilant celebration of its Formation Day on June 2, with Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu directing officials to elevate the scale and spirit of the event to reflect the pride and achievements of the state.
Chairing a high-level coordination meeting at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat on Tuesday, the Deputy CM reviewed district-wise and state capital arrangements for the landmark occasion. He emphasised that this year’s celebrations must compensate for the subdued observance last year, which was constrained by the election code.
The event schedule in Hyderabad includes Chief Minister Revanth Reddy paying homage at the Martyrs’ Memorial, followed by the national flag hoisting, ceremonial march-past, address to the public, and a medal distribution ceremony at Parade Grounds.
Highlighting the vision of CM Revanth Reddy, Bhatti Vikramarka urged that events should not be limited to the capital but should resonate across all district headquarters. Ministers in charge of each district will oversee local celebrations, while Telangana Bhavan in Delhi will also host commemorative programmes.
This year, the celebrations are expected to be graced by international dignitaries, including the Mayor of a Japanese city and several Miss World winners. The Deputy CM reviewed the arrangements being made for their reception and participation.
“All departments must plan and execute the programme in a way that truly reflects the glory of Telangana,” he said. Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao will monitor all preparations, and officials were encouraged to reach out to the Deputy CM directly for any support or to share suggestions.
Among those present at the review meeting were Government Advisor Narender Reddy, DGP Jitender, Principal Secretary (Finance) Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Special Chief Secretaries Vikas Raj and Raghunandan Rao, Commissioner of Information Harish, and senior police officials, including CV Anand and Nagireddy.
