A tragic road accident in Tamil Nadu’s Karur district claimed five lives after a car collided with a bus and caught fire. The victims, including two women, were burnt alive.
HYDERABAD: A devastating road accident occurred in Tamil Nadu’s Karur district early Wednesday morning, resulting in the tragic deaths of five people. The accident took place on the Kulithalai Highway when a car collided with a government bus, causing the vehicle to catch fire. All five occupants, including a family of four and the driver, were burnt alive.
Upon impact, the car burst into flames, leaving no time for the passengers to escape. Fire and rescue teams rushed to the spot and battled the blaze for nearly an hour before bringing it under control. Once the fire was doused, officials retrieved the charred remains of the victims from the vehicle.
According to police, the deceased included two women, and all were residents of Kuniyamuthur in Coimbatore. They were reportedly on their way to the Agniveeranar Temple in Keelayur, Orathanadu, when the accident occurred.
Speeding Suspected as Cause of Crash
Preliminary investigations suggest that overspeeding was the primary cause of the accident. The car, traveling at high speed, crashed into a government bus that was en route from Aranthangi to Thiruvarur. The impact led to the immediate ignition of the vehicle.
The accident led to severe traffic congestion on the Karur-Tiruchirappalli National Highway, with vehicles stranded for several kilometers. Authorities worked to clear the traffic and restore normal movement on the highway.
This tragic incident highlights the dangers of overspeeding and the need for increased road safety measures.
