Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Minorities Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar have assured Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir that implementation of minority welfare schemes in Telangana will be expedited and budgetary funds released without delay.
The assurances came during a high-level review held on Wednesday with the participation of heads of key minority institutions. The meeting focused on assessing the status of ongoing welfare programmes and fast-tracking pending initiatives under the Minorities Welfare Department.
Shabbir Ali told reporters that the Congress Government had allocated ₹3,591 crore for the department in the 2025–26 Budget, including ₹840 crore for self-employment support under the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam programme.
Earlier in the day, Shabbir held a meeting with Minister Laxman Kumar at his office, joined by chairpersons of the Minorities Finance Corporation, Urdu Academy, Waqf Board, TMREIS, Haj Committee, and Libraries. Minorities Welfare Secretary B. Shafiullah and senior officials were also present.
The review covered scholarship disbursement, TMREIS school operations, Urdu promotion, Hajj arrangements, and honorariums for Imams and Muezzins. Instructions were issued to accelerate implementation across departments.
Shabbir Ali and Laxman Kumar later met with Bhatti Vikramarka to address fund release concerns. Bhatti reportedly assured that sanctioned funds would be disbursed without delays.
Shabbir also highlighted the government’s move to provide sewing machines and other tools to help minority families achieve economic self-reliance, stating that the administration aims to enhance welfare outcomes through better coordination and timely funding.
