Hyderabad: Tension hung heavy outside RTC Bhavan on Friday as dozens of suspended Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) employees staged a protest demanding their jobs back.
Holding placards and shouting slogans, the workers claimed they had been dismissed unfairly and accused the management of targeting them without a proper inquiry. Determined to voice their grievances, the group marched towards the office of TGSRTC Managing Director VC Sajjanar, hoping to hand over a petition.
But police, already on high alert, intercepted the protestors at the gates, sparking a brief stand-off that threatened to boil over. Officers quickly formed a cordon, blocking any further movement towards the MD’s chamber.
Visibly upset, some workers fought back tears as they spoke of the uncertainty clouding their families’ futures. “We’ve been abandoned no explanation, no chance to defend ourselves,” said one protester, his voice trembling. “Our families depend on us, and we’ve been left with nothing.”
Though the demonstration stayed peaceful, the tension was unmistakable, with a heavy police presence ensuring the protest didn’t spill inside. Meanwhile, TGSRTC officials remained tight-lipped, refusing to comment on whether the suspended staff would be given a hearing or reinstated.
