Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday called on BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao and party MLA T. Harish Rao to participate in a formal Assembly debate over the Banakacharla project and its implications for Telangana.
Addressing a gathering at the Rythu Bharosa Vijayotsava Sabha, the Chief Minister said he was prepared to present facts in a special session if KCR formally writes to the Speaker.
“If KCR wants a debate, let him send a letter. Minister Sridhar Babu will coordinate a special Assembly session on the date of his choosing. I will place all facts on the record regarding the Godavari water issue. Let KCR show up,” Revanth said.
He dismissed allegations from BRS leaders that he had compromised Telangana’s water interests in dealings with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
“If I wanted to align with Chandrababu, I would have stayed in TDP. I came here guided by Rajiv Gandhi’s vision,” Revanth said, accusing the BRS leadership of spreading false narratives about the Banakacharla project.
He launched a direct attack on the financial conduct of the KCR family. “Let them answer what was their financial status before statehood? How did Harish Rao get a farmhouse in Moinabad, KTR in Janwada, and KCR in Gajwel?”
He said while Telangana now carries ₹8 lakh crore in debt, the BRS leadership had amassed personal wealth on a scale rivaling that of the erstwhile Nizams.
