HYDERABAD: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has highlighted the transformative impact of drone technology on warfare and industry, stating that the integration of batteries, motors, and optics has enabled unprecedented manoeuvrability and communication.
In a video released on Saturday, Gandhi discussed how drone manufacturing and related industries could drive economic growth and job creation. He argued that drones are not a singular technology but the outcome of ongoing innovations within a strong industrial ecosystem.
Gandhi criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for failing to fully grasp the significance of this technological advancement. He remarked that while Modi delivers speeches on artificial intelligence via teleprompter, competitors are advancing in real technological development. Gandhi asserted that India needs a robust production base rather than rhetoric.
He emphasised India’s potential, highlighting the nation’s talent, scale, and ambition. He urged for a clear vision to build industrial strength, arguing that this approach would create employment opportunities and foster economic progress.
Beyond military applications, Gandhi pointed out that drones are becoming increasingly relevant in service industries and agriculture. He described drone production as part of a new industrial revolution with significant potential for ancillary sectors.
Gandhi’s remarks underscored the necessity of moving beyond speeches to establish a solid industrial foundation. He advocated for strategic planning to harness emerging technologies for national development.
