Hyderabad: State Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Monday criticised BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao for what he called unnecessary drama around his appearance before the ACB in the Formula E car race case.
Drawing a parallel with the Kaleshwaram project probe during K. Chandrashekar Rao’s tenure, the minister said KTR was following the same pattern now. He clarified that the Congress government has no intention of engaging in political vendetta.
Questioning the need for such hype, Ponguleti said there was no government interference in the ACB inquiry. He added that further action will be taken only after the ACB submits its report, reiterating that the government is not targeting any individual.
On the upcoming panchayat elections, the minister stated that the Congress government is fully committed to implementing BC reservations. He assured that the increased reservation quota will be strictly enforced in the polls, which are expected to be held soon. He expressed confidence that Congress would win the local body elections.
Ponguleti also promised housing for all eligible poor under the Indiramma housing scheme. He asked people not to lose hope if they missed out in the first phase, assuring that houses will be allotted to every eligible person in a phased manner. Despite the state’s financial constraints, he said the government has fulfilled several promises in the last one-and-a-half years and will implement the remaining ones shortly.
