Monsoon arrives in Telangana, heavy rains lash Hyderabad and several districts

Hyderabad: The monsoon has officially entered parts of Telangana, bringing with it intense rainfall across Hyderabad and several districts, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). The spell of heavy rain began on Monday evening and is expected to continue for the next three days.

Many areas in Hyderabad experienced torrential downpours lasting nearly an hour. Moderate to heavy rains were reported from areas including LB Nagar, Hayathnagar, Dilsukhnagar, Malakpet, Chaderghat, Afzalgunj, Nampally, Lakdikapul, Panjagutta, Ameerpet, Yousufguda, Kukatpally, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Lingampally, Gachibowli, Madhapur, Mehdipatnam, Tolichowki, and parts of the Old City. Waterlogging in several localities led to traffic disruptions.

Districts such as Adilabad, Nizamabad, Warangal, and Khammam also witnessed heavy showers. The IMD has forecast continued rainfall across the state until May 29.

Showers were also reported from Vikarabad, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahbubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Gadwal on Monday.

For Tuesday, districts including Adilabad, Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Bhupalpally, Vikarabad, Ranga Reddy, Medak, and Kamareddy have been placed under yellow alert due to anticipated thunderstorms with strong winds.

On Wednesday, districts like Adilabad, Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Sircilla, Vikarabad, and Sangareddy are expected to receive heavy rainfall.

Thursday’s forecast indicates scattered heavy rain in Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Medak, and Kamareddy.

In the last 24 hours, districts such as Siddipet, Nizamabad, Bhongir, Narayanpet, Mahbubnagar, and Nalgonda reported intense rain spells.
