Hyderabad: In a crackdown on illegal drug sales, the South-East Zone Task Force, along with Bandlaguda police, arrested a man on Friday for peddling Mephentermine injections without authorisation. Officials seized 19 vials of the stimulant, a Honda Activa scooter, and a mobile phone, all estimated to be worth around ₹1.25 lakh.
The accused, Abdul Jibran Ansari, 30, a welder by trade, lives in Mohammad Nagar, Bandlaguda. According to police, he sourced the injections from a contact in Gurugram, Haryana, and sold them locally at marked-up prices.
Investigators said Ansari obtained the Mephentermine injections from Sahendra Prasad in Gurugram and sold them to customers in the Bandlaguda area. The drug, commonly abused by young people seeking an energy boost, can cause serious health issues, including high blood pressure and heart problems, if taken without medical guidance.
Officials urged the public, particularly the youth, to steer clear of Mephentermine and similar stimulants. “These drugs can have dangerous side effects and should never be taken without a doctor’s supervision,” a senior officer warned.
The arrest operation was led by Inspector S. Saidababu from the South-East Zone Task Force, assisted by sub-inspectors Sk. Kaviuddin, P. Sairam, and M. Madhu, along with constable T. Prashanth and staff from Bandlaguda police station.
