Hyderabad: As the city gears up for Eid-ul-Adha (Bakrid) festivities on Saturday, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind’s Greater Hyderabad president, Dr Mubashshir Ahmad, has called on the Muslim community to prioritise cleanliness and civic responsibility during the celebrations.

Addressing the faithful, Dr Ahmad stressed that animal remains should never be dumped on roadsides or in public places. Instead, he urged that waste be properly disposed of in bins designated by sanitation workers. He recommended that sacrifices be carried out within the confines of homes rather than in open areas to maintain public hygiene.

“Let’s celebrate Bakrid in a manner that reflects dignity and respect for our surroundings,” he said. “Avoid slaughtering animals without the required government permissions,” Dr. Ahmad said, adding that it’s important to honour regulations.

He also reminded everyone of the long-held tradition of dividing the meat into three equal portions: one for the poor, one for relatives, and one for the family—an essential way to foster community spirit and compassion.

He noted that Bakrid is an opportunity to strengthen ties with neighbours and relatives. “This festival is about compassion and unity,” he said. “Let’s use it to build bridges and foster harmony.”

Extending his greetings to the Muslim community, Dr Ahmad concluded with a heartfelt “Eid Mubarak” to all.
