BJP MP Laxman accuses KCR, Revanth Reddy of pushing Telangana into debt

BJP MP K. Laxman has accused former CM KCR and current CM Revanth Reddy of mismanaging Telangana’s finances, alleging reckless borrowing and corruption have led to a severe debt crisis.

HYDERABAD: BJP MP Dr K. Laxman has criticised former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and current Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, holding them responsible for Telangana’s worsening financial crisis. Addressing a press conference, Laxman alleged that financial mismanagement and excessive borrowing under both the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Congress governments have pushed the state into economic distress.

Laxman claimed that Telangana, once a revenue-surplus state, is now struggling to meet basic financial obligations, including salary and pension payments. “Both KCR and Revanth Reddy have handled the economy irresponsibly. Public debt has soared, and common people are bearing the consequences,” he stated.

The BJP leader accused KCR’s administration of corruption and wasteful expenditure, particularly citing the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, which he described as a financial burden due to poor planning and execution. He also criticised Revanth Reddy’s government for continuing on the same path instead of taking corrective measures to stabilise Telangana’s economy.

Laxman demanded an independent audit of the state’s finances and called for a clear roadmap to address the growing debt burden. He warned that if immediate corrective measures were not implemented, Telangana’s economic stability could be in jeopardy.

With financial concerns emerging as a major political issue, the Telangana government is expected to face intensified scrutiny over its handling of the state’s economy.
