Kishan Reddy on KCR governance: Former CM prioritised family over Telangana

Union Minister Kishan Reddy accused former CM K. Chandrashekar Rao of neglecting institutional structures and prioritising his family’s wealth over Telangana’s welfare. He also criticised the Congress government for failing to fulfill promises on jobs and education.

HYDERABAD: Union Minister and Telangana BJP President Kishan Reddy has levelled serious allegations against former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), stating that institutional structures deteriorated under his leadership.

Speaking at an event in Nizamabad on Saturday, Kishan Reddy accused KCR of prioritising his family’s wealth over the state’s welfare. He claimed that while KCR had promised to transform Telangana into a ‘Golden State,’ it was his family that ultimately benefited.

Kishan Reddy further criticised the previous TRS administration, alleging that it silenced senior leaders and diminished the role of teachers in the Legislative Council. He also targeted the current Congress-led government, accusing it of betraying unemployed youth by failing to provide unemployment benefits and not releasing annual job calendars.

“What happened to the announcement of providing two lakh jobs?” Reddy questioned, highlighting the government’s inability to deliver on educational promises such as the Vidya Bharosa scheme.

Challenge to Revanth Reddy

Responding to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s recent challenge for a governance debate, Kishan Reddy expressed his willingness to engage. However, he countered by challenging Revanth Reddy to first fulfill the promises made to the public.

He asserted that the current administration operates against Telangana’s interests, arguing that merely changing leaders does not ensure progress. Instead, he advocated for a ‘double-engine government’—a synergy between state and central leadership—as the pathway to real development in Telangana.
