Hyderabad: Union Minister and Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy on Thursday demanded that the state government hand over the phone tapping case to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
During a visit to Nizamabad, Reddy said the case cannot be probed transparently by the same police system accused of carrying out the surveillance.
He challenged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to refer the matter to the CBI if he is not aligned with BRS and if the government has nothing to hide.
Reddy pointed out that BJP has already moved the court seeking a CBI investigation. He also questioned the Congress party’s silence, recalling that it had earlier demanded a CBI probe while in opposition.
Accusing the previous government of violating individual privacy through illegal surveillance, Reddy said the state had misused its policing powers.
He also credited BJP MP Arvind with securing the Turmeric Board for Nizamabad, noting that despite requests from other states, the Centre kept its promise to Telangana.
Turmeric Board chairman Pallé Gangareddy has been appointed from Nizamabad, he said, adding that the board will aim to expand international opportunities for turmeric farmers.
