Hyderabad: Artificial Intelligence is now central to the Indiramma housing scheme, especially in selecting beneficiaries and clearing bills. The Indiramma app is able to detect false entries swiftly.
In the first phase, permissions were granted for 70,122 houses across 562 villages. Out of these, 46,432 beneficiaries received approval documents. Construction has started for 17,000 houses, and 4,500 have reached the foundation stage as per online records.
Once the foundation is completed, ₹1 lakh is credited to the beneficiary’s account in the first instalment. To verify these claims, officials are running uploaded details through AI-based checks. The app stores pre-recorded images of excavation, foundation, pillars, slabs, walls, and the house layout. It also holds 360-degree applicant information.
As soon as fresh entries are uploaded, AI compares them with expected visuals. Any mismatch is flagged, prompting a field inspection. If irregularities are confirmed, action follows.
One such case emerged in Bhadrachalam, Bhadradri Kothagudem district. Details and photos were uploaded online for 18 houses, claiming foundation work was complete. But AI spotted inconsistencies with the standard references. On inspection, it turned out none of the foundations were done. The bill collector who uploaded the false data was removed from duty.
The state is preparing to sanction 3,500 houses per constituency under the second phase. A list of 4.5 lakh beneficiaries was expected by May 10. AI will be deployed again to ensure there are no irregularities.
Applicant profiles already include 360-degree data within the app. If any ineligible candidates are found, AI will flag them. The government has said that any staff or officials involved in malpractice during field-level beneficiary selection will face action.
