Hyderabad, January 25: Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring Agency (HYDRAA) undertook a large-scale demolition drive in Divyanagar, Ghatkesar, on Saturday morning.
Using Hydra machinery, they dismantled a 4-kilometre-long boundary wall that was allegedly built illegally on government land within Pocharam municipality limits. The drive was carried out under heavy police protection to prevent any untoward incidents.
The operation followed complaints from locals. Earlier this month, on January 12, Hydra Commissioner Ranganath inspected the Divyanagar layouts and investigated allegations of illegal constructions. Upon surveying the area, officials confirmed that the boundary wall was constructed on encroached government land. Subsequently, the demolition was ordered and executed.
The Divyanagar layout spans approximately 200 acres and contains 2,218 plots. Allegations have surfaced that 30% of the plots belong to Nallamalla Reddy.
The demolition of the wall has opened up access to various nearby layouts and townships. These include Ekashila Layout, Venkatadri Township, Suprabhath Venture (Phases 1-4), Maheshwari Colony, Kachavani Singaram, Balaji Nagar, VGHS Colony, Pratap Singaram Road, Medipally, Parvathapuram, Chennareddy Colony, Hills View Colony, and Muttelliguda. Residents in these areas now have improved connectivity via Ekashila-Peerzadiguda Road.
