HYDERABAD: Returning Officer Anurag Jayanti has announced that all arrangements have been completed for the Hyderabad Local Body MLC elections scheduled for April 23. Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, he detailed the preparations undertaken for the smooth conduct of polling.
He stated that two polling stations have been established at the GHMC head office and that there are a total of 112 registered voters. Polling will take place from 8 AM to 4 PM on Tuesday. Necessary personnel have been deployed at both polling stations, with additional staff held in reserve. Each polling station will have four officials on duty, and Section 144 will be enforced in the vicinity to maintain order.
Security arrangements include deployment of approximately 200 to 250 police personnel. In total, nearly 500 officials and staff will be involved in the election duty. Jayanti added that both polling and counting staff have been thoroughly trained and that all basic facilities have been provided at the polling stations.
He assured that all steps have been taken to ensure that the elections are conducted peacefully and freely. In light of the elections, a holiday has been declared on April 23 for all GHMC main office staff except those on election duty. These employees will be required to compensate by attending work on the second Saturday of June, specifically June 14, 2025.
The press meet was also attended by Additional Election Commissioner Aliveelu Mangatayaru, Hyderabad Deputy Collector Ravi, and other officials.
