HYDERABAD: Sudden heavy rain brought Hyderabad to a standstill on Thursday, as the weather turned unexpectedly cool around 2 PM. Following a scorching morning, clouds quickly gathered, leading to a downpour across several parts of the city. The rainfall inundated low-lying areas and left several roads waterlogged, severely affecting vehicular movement and causing widespread traffic jams.
Areas such as Panjagutta, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Madhapur, Gachibowli, Kondapur, Mehdipatnam, Lakdi-ka-pul, Begumpet, Hussain Sagar, Secunderabad, Tarnaka, LB Nagar, and Habsiguda witnessed intense showers, leaving residents struggling with the sudden weather shift.
The abrupt change in weather has brought some relief to residents who have been enduring intense summer heat over the past few days. Meteorologists attributed the sudden rainfall to a surface trough stretching across Telangana, coastal regions, and Maharashtra. As a result, temperatures dipped and similar weather patterns were observed in several districts.
Due to this trough, Adilabad district recorded heavy rainfall. Other districts also experienced cooler weather conditions. According to the Meteorological Department, moderate rainfall is likely in the districts of Nirmal, Nizamabad, and Asifabad over the next four days.
Officials have predicted a mix of hot weather and thunderstorms across different parts of the state in the coming days. Residents are advised to stay alert, and farmers have been urged to take necessary precautions in light of the unpredictable weather.
