Hyderabad: A couple from Amberpet was arrested by Hyderabad police for operating a pornography racket involving live-streamed sexual content under the alias ‘Sweety Telugu Couple 2027’.
According to police, the two had been broadcasting explicit acts online for four months using Instagram and other platforms to promote their content. Viewers were charged ₹2,000 for live access and ₹500 for recorded videos.
The operation was exposed following a tip-off. Task Force personnel raided the couple’s residence, where they found a room converted into a recording setup. Police recovered curtains arranged as backdrops, cameras, mobile phones, and other streaming equipment.
The couple was taken into custody and later handed over to Amberpet Police. A case has been filed under relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act related to dissemination of obscene material.
Investigators said the accused will be questioned further to establish whether others were involved or if any of the content was distributed on international platforms.
Police said circulating or publishing obscene material online is a serious offence and warned of strict surveillance on such activity going forward.
