HYDERABAD: Tension erupted at Hyderabad Central University on Saturday as over 200 police personnel were deployed on campus following a student protest.
Students gathered inside the university premises to protest against the proposed sale of 400 acres of university land, declaring, “We will not allow the sale of university land.”
As part of their demonstration, students brought an effigy of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and staged a symbolic protest. Police intervened and seized the effigy from the students.
Despite the police action, the students managed to reclaim the effigy from the authorities and proceeded to burn it on the campus grounds.
The situation remained tense as police maintained a strong presence in the area.
