Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the Congress government, accusing it of betraying state employees by stalling on crucial financial commitments.
Rao lashed out at the government’s handling of dearness allowance (DA) arrears, branding its approach as both confused and dishonest. “They promised to clear all pending DAs immediately after taking charge, but now they’ve released just one and kept five hanging. Is this what they meant by timely payments?” he asked, calling the move an outright betrayal of employee trust.
He reserved sharp criticism for Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, questioning the government’s commitment to its own promises. “You promised to set up the PRC within six months. It’s been 18 months and not a single word on it,” Rao said, accusing the Congress of stringing employees along with empty assurances.
Rao highlighted that DA hikes are supposed to be cleared every January and July, pointing out that the Centre had already approved the January 2025 DA hike back in March. “The July DA is due by September. Yet, this government is dragging its feet,” he remarked.
He didn’t hold back, describing the Congress’s latest move to postpone yet another DA release by another six months as absurd. “It’s an insult to employees’ expectations,” he fumed.
Rao also took a dig at the Congress for rebranding the EHS scheme originally introduced by the BRS as if it were a new initiative, dismissing it as mere repackaging. “There’s not even a whisper about the pending arrears, PRC timelines, or benefits for retired employees,” he said, charging the government with ignoring core welfare issues.
Demanding immediate release of all pending DAs and a clear, time-bound plan for employee welfare, Rao accused the Congress of betraying the very people who serve the state.
