Hyderabad: Alair Police arrested a habitual two-wheeler thief and his juvenile accomplice on Saturday and recovered four stolen vehicles worth around ₹4 lakh. The operation was conducted by South-East Task Force and Alair PS staff during early morning patrolling near Chowdary Dhaba on NH-163.
The arrested accused, Kampa Vijay (23) of Mulugu district, and a 17-year-old boy from Jangaon, were intercepted while travelling on stolen motorcycles one Bullet and one Activa without number plates. On questioning, both confessed to a series of thefts carried out across Alair, Jangaon, and Bhongir over the past 15 days.
Following their arrest, police recovered an additional two Pulsar bikes hidden in bushes near Jangaon. Vijay, a repeat offender with a criminal history dating back to 2019, had previously been jailed in theft and robbery cases, including one under the PD Act. After his release from jail in June 2025, he resumed bike thefts in coordination with the juvenile.
According to police, Vijay used stolen vehicles and proceeds to fund gambling and alcohol. His theft record over the last eight years spans nearly 50 lakh in property offences across multiple police station limits in Warangal and Hanumakonda districts.
The case (Cr No. 187/2025 under Section 303(2) BNS of Alair PS) is part of a wider pattern. He also confessed to similar offences under Cr No. 377/2025 (Jangaon) and Cr No. 293/2025 (Bhongir Town).
The arrests were made under the supervision of DCP Akshansh Yadav, Addl. DCP Ch. Laxminarayana, ACP P. Srinivas Naidu, and SHO M. Kondalarao. Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu appreciated the Alair Police for their swift action.
