Hyderabad: Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy marked World Environment Day by planting saplings at his official residence in Delhi on Thursday. The event saw the participation of several bright students from government schools in Khammam district, who topped this year’s Class 10 examinations.
The Minister congratulated the students by draping shawls over them, applauding their achievements. He also spoke to them about the importance of protecting the environment, highlighting the need for collective action to address pressing ecological concerns.
Interacting with the students, Reddy asked them about their future aspirations and encouraged them to pursue their goals with determination and resilience. “Never give up until you achieve what you set out for,” he told them.
He noted that many people are working at the grassroots level to safeguard Mother Earth, and that their dedication should serve as an inspiration to others. “It is essential to make environmental protection part of our daily lives,” he urged, adding that reducing carbon emissions and curbing plastic use are crucial steps in this direction.
Reddy called on every citizen to take up tree planting and integrate eco-friendly practices into their routines to build a sustainable future.
