COIMBATORE: A deeply disturbing incident has come to light from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, where a Dalit girl was subjected to discriminatory treatment during her menstrual period. The school management reportedly forced the girl to sit outside the classroom and write her exam, citing her menstruation as the reason.
According to reports, the student informed her parents about the humiliating treatment. Shocked by the incident, her mother visited the school the following day, only to witness her daughter once again writing an exam seated outside the classroom.
Outraged by the inhumane treatment meted out to her child, the mother lodged a formal complaint with the education department authorities. The incident has sparked outrage among rights groups and has raised serious questions about caste-based and gender-based discrimination within educational institutions.
An investigation into the matter is expected, with calls growing louder for strict action against those responsible for this discriminatory and degrading act.
