HYDERABAD: Communist Party of India (CPI) State Secretary and Kothagudem MLA, Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao, has expressed concerns that the ruling Congress Party may face difficulties in the forthcoming local body elections.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, Sambasiva Rao stated that Congress has yet to fulfill several promises made during the elections, which he believes is leading to diminishing public trust in the government. He demanded the immediate release of a white paper detailing the status of these commitments. He suggested that the Congress should clarify its promises before proceeding with the elections.
Regarding electoral strategy, Sambasiva Rao mentioned that the CPI plans to contest in areas where it has strong support while collaborating with Congress in other regions. He also confirmed CPI’s support for Congress candidates in the upcoming Graduate MLC elections. Discussions are ongoing within the party to determine its stance in the Teachers’ MLC elections.
Additionally, Sambasiva Rao welcomed the government’s initiatives on SC classification and the BC caste census. However, he called for a judicial inquiry into alleged encounters, asserting that Maoists are being killed in a brutal manner under the pretext of police encounters.
