Hyderabad, February 4: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy presented the SC classification report in the Assembly, stating that the one-member commission had recommended dividing Scheduled Castes into three groups.
He revealed that the commission received 4,750 representations from the public and studied the economic and political conditions of 59 SC communities. Based on the findings, it suggested:
– Group 1: 15 socially backward castes to receive 1% reservation
– Group 2: 18 castes to receive 9% reservation
– Group 3: 26 castes to receive 5% reservation
The commission also recommended filling vacant Group 1 posts with candidates from Groups 2 and 3. However, the Telangana government rejected the proposal to introduce a creamy layer within SC reservations.
CM Revanth Reddy emphasised that Telangana would be the first state to implement SC classification ahead of other states. He assured that the state government was fully committed to implementing the recommendations.
