Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu supports NEP’s three-language formula

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed his support for the three-language formula under the National Education Policy (NEP). Speaking in the Assembly on Monday, he emphasized the need to balance language learning while preserving one’s mother tongue.

“English is merely a language for communication. Globally, more people succeed by studying in their mother tongue,” Chandrababu Naidu stated.

He further added that while learning other languages is beneficial, one should not forget their native language. “If we travel to Delhi, knowing Hindi makes communication easier,” he said.

The three-language policy has been a point of contention between the central government and Tamil Nadu. The Tamil Nadu government, led by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, has accused the Centre of attempting to impose Hindi on the state.

Chandrababu Naidu highlighted that many Indians are traveling to countries like Japan and Germany for work. “If needed, they should learn these languages beforehand, making it easier to adapt to those countries. Learning multiple languages is beneficial for employment, and unnecessary political debates over this issue are not helpful,” he added.
