Hyderabad, January 28: BJP leader Vishnuvardhan Reddy has made controversial remarks equating Gaddar, a prominent figure, to LTTE terrorists. Speaking to the media in Delhi, Reddy questioned the decision to honour Gaddar with an award, citing his association with the banned Maoist organisation. He stated, “Gaddar is no different from an LTTE terrorist,” and criticised the move to recognise him.
Reddy further accused Gaddar of being responsible for numerous deaths and opposing India’s democratic principles. He questioned, “How can someone associated with a banned Maoist organisation be given an award?” He also took a jab at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, asking if he would advocate for awarding LTTE members as well, or if the award was given because Gaddar’s daughter is in Congress.
Highlighting Gaddar’s legal issues, Reddy pointed out that there are multiple cases against him in both Telugu states. He expressed strong disapproval of honouring individuals with such backgrounds.
These comments have sparked a debate over the appropriateness of awarding individuals with controversial pasts, especially those linked to banned organisations. The discussion continues as political leaders and the public weigh in on the matter.
